In a nutshell, with the recent misrepresentation of Muslims on SBS’s Star King and “Black Face” at Idol Athletics Championship acting as catalysts for this issue to be raised and heard within the kpop fandom.
Blackface is a form of theatrical make up used in minstrel shows, and later vaudeville, in which performers create a stereotyped caricature of a black person.
Sure you could ignore this post but i think this photo below is much more confronting to see.

After writing an article on “Idols and military service” outlining the warm welcome entertainer Boom has received i regret to know inform you that at the latest Idols Athletics Championships Boom and his academy: Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Shindong and Eunhyuk performed a song with Boom… who was in black face.

WHAT IS THIS I DON’T EVEN

Now i can’t say for sure whose idea it was, the writers, whether it was scripted, pds, super junior or boom himself. It doesn’t matter whose idea it was though, what matters is that it was not denied and went ahead instead.
Anywho this isn’t the first time that black face was in kpop. On MBC’s Hot Brothers (2010) BEAST/B2ST Lee (Gi)Kiwang was made up in black face for a scripted television segment for filming a cf.

Every individual has a responsiblity to themselves and the world to be aware of their actions and what those actions mean. There should be NO excuse for racial insensitivity when there are so many people checking a script for a show that goes to live to air television. In fact, there should be no excuse for racial insensitivity at all.
